President Rajapaksa has stressed that Buddhist countries should work together for a world devoid of terrorism.
The President said all Buddhist countries and the Buddhists world-wide should unite for a terror free world. The desire of the entire world, and particularly the Buddhists in the country, is to see a future sans war and terror
The President was speaking at the handing over of the Act of Appointment as the Chief Sanghanayake of Sri Jayawardenepura to the Ven. Meegastenne Chandrasiri Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Mahanidarama Temple in Etulkotte and Secretary General of the Cultural Centre. The event ws organized at Temple Trees. At the Appointment has been made by the Kotte Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha. The President highly acclaimed the services of the Ven. Chandrasiri Thera to the Sasana as well as society.
The Nippon Educational Foundation has awarded educational scholarships to around 10,500 children of low income families. 58 libraries, 117 educational centres and about 115 temples countrywide had been developed under the mediation of the prelate. Members of the Maha Sangha of Sri Lanka and Japan, Minister Susil Premajayantha and President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge were among those present.
