Two arrested in early morning robbery and beating

Police have arrested two Columbia men in the early morning robbery and beating of a 52-year-old unidentified Columbia man on Harden Street.
Eighteen-year-old Eddien Andre Patterson and 16-year-old Chris Antwan Morgan, who is being charged as an adult, are accused of stealing the victims bicycle which had been left unattended and unsecured.
According to Columbia police department spokesman Brick Lewis, the victim spotted the two men with his bike and he confronted them. He told police that the men demanded his cell phone and money and then beat and kicked him.
The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Patterson and Morgan were taken into custody early this morning after police responded to the 2 a.m. call. Tuesday night, Patterson was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Morgan was being held in juvenile detention facilities even though he will be charged as an adult, Lewis said.
