South Korea provides assistance for families affected by the recent deluge.
The Korea assistance was handed over by the Ambassador in Colombo Dr. Choi Ki Chul to Minister Mahinda Amaraweera. It included 230 tents, kitchen utensils and mattresses.
The Minister referred to picketing and demonstrations at some locations. When inquires were made it was found that these had been organized by political parties for various gains. He said it is very clear that political parties are attempting to exploit the situation to gain political mileage. They were not interested in demonstrations and protests which are organized under the influence of political parties. But he added that if the people made any accusation, the Government was prepared to mediate and solve the issues.
Officials of the Ministry of Disaster Management were present on this occasion.
