E-city Unit in Kandy

Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka stated that the country is prepared for immense development through technological transformation. At a function held in Kandy he said that technological transformations are to take place in four sectors in the future.

The Minister pointed said that after the ‘Quantum Computer’ will be introduced unlimited amounts of data could be stored. The introduction of Nano Technology will make massive changes in the industrial world. He said the Genetic Engineering field is also making steady leaps although not so much focused upon. Another sector that is making progress is the filed of Neurology. He said that the Electricity Board cannot remain as it is, amidst these developments. He noted that the Electricity Board is patronized by knowledgeable consumers who are suitable to the modern environment. The Minister expressed confidence that a modern Electricity Board can be launched  in the future.

The Minister expressed these views at the inauguration of the E-city Unit in Kandy. The Ministry of Power and Energy is setting up E-city units island-wide to provide efficient service to electricity consumers throughout the island.
