2 Columbia hunger programs to share in $100,000 grant

Two Columbia area hunger relief agencies will receive $100,000 in grants today as part of Wal-Mart’s Fighting Hunger Together Facebook campaign.
Harvest Hope Food Bank will receive $75,000 to buy a new refrigerated truck so it can distribute fresh food to more families.
And the St. Andrews Baptist Church Kids Cafe will receive $25,000 to expand its feeding program and a similar backpack program that provides children at-risk of hunger with meals after school and on weekends.
Wal-Mart will make the presentations at 11 this morning at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Columbia is one of six communities to earn a top spot in the Fighting Hunger Together campaign, part of the giant retailer’s $2 billion commitment to help fight hunger through 2015.
