The Architect 2011 Exhibition kicks off in Colombo. It is an annual event.
It is organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. The venue of the Exhibition is the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition Hall. It will continue until Sunday the 27th. It provides an opportunity to secure information and knowledge on architecture. The opening took place under the patronage of Ruth Reid, Chairperson of the Royal Institute of Architects in Britain. In parallel to the Exhibition the 28th National Conference of the Architects Association commenced under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa yesterday. “Architecture for All – City plus Community” is the theme of the Conference. Giving his views on the occasion, Minister Basil Rajapaksa referred to the many projects launched by the Government for community development. He emphasized that Architects are vested with a major task in the development process. A group from the Commonwealth Architects Association and Asian Regional Architects Council was present.
