500 expired milk food packs which had been given to civilians of the Thopawewa Parana village in Polonnaruwa have been seized. Some who had used this milk powder are in the Polonnaruw Hospital.
An individual who had come to the village in a vehicle had distributed these milk food packs. Some who had already used the milk had fallen ill. Among them are two children and an adult. They have been admitted to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital. The Medical Officer of Health of Thamankaduwa who examined some packs which had not yet used had found that these had expired. Thereafter four Medical Officers of Health conducted an operation and took into their custody the packs the villagers possessed. The Police are conducting inquiries to nab the person who had distributed the milk food among the villagers.
