United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary and Minister Susil Premajayantha has said that the present Government is not afraid of elections and it will not at all initiate action to postpone polls in fear of polls.
Addressing a media conference in Colombo today, the Minister said the United People’s Freedom Alliance was adhering to the election regulations as well as the laws of the country. It was not initiating action to hold scattered polls. The argument made by the Opposition is baseless. He queried as to whether the last Presidential election was held on a scattered basis. It was conducted in one day. It was also the same with the previous General Election. The Minister claimed that the Opposition was unable to win either scattered polls or elections conducted within one day. There he queried whether it was their problem. He emphasized that this was mainly due to the disorganization of the opposition and the lack of confidence of the people.
