Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Mohammad Abdul Mudeen, who is on a five-day visit to Sri Lanka meets President Rajapaksa.
The Bangladesh Army Chief is visiting the island at the invitation of Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya. He met the President at Temple Trees for discussions. Their discussions dealt at length on the training imparted to Sri Lanka military officers in Bangladesh. They also broached the exchange of experiences achieved during the humanitarian operations among the militaries in the South Asian region. President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge and Army Commander Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya were present at this meeting.
Meanwhile the visiting Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Mohammad Abdul stressed that military training between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh should be further expanded. He laid this emphasis during a meeting with Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office. Prime Minister’s Secretary S. Amarasekara was present.
At the Army Headquarters he inspected a Guard Turn Out at the entrance to the premises. He was then conducted to the saluting dais to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour. Thereafter the visitor and the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasooriya exchanged mementos. They also held discussions at the Army Secretariat.
