The World Bank is to donate 2.7 million dollars to increase the nutritional level of the displaced in the North.
The Social Development Fund of the Japanese Government has given the allocation for the World Bank. The project is targeted at improving the nutritional level of the displaced people, pregnant and lactating mothers and to improve the health conditions of children. The Health and Indigenous Medicine Ministry of the Northern Province will implement the project. The Health Ministry is providing the specialists needed for the project.
The relevant agreement was signed at the Ministry of Plan Implementation. Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara and the World Bank Resident Representative inked the agreement. Officials of the Japanese Embassy were present.
