Deputy Economic Development Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has said that Hong Kong based Shangri-La hotels has looked at two sites including one close to the Yala nature reserve in the south of the country.
Abeywardena has been quoted in a local business newswire saying that the visiting Shangri-La officials had examined a site close to the Yala nature reserve on the south coast.
The deputy minister has added that the officials from Shangri-La had also looked at a site close to the Hambantota Port.
The Shangri-La group is to commence work on its first hotel in the country in three months. The hotel is to be located in a state land in the Colombo City near Galle Face.
