Police have arrested a 37-year-old woman and charged her with arson in connection with an apartment fire early this morning that damaged 12 units and displaced several residents.
Ernestine Simpson was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, according to Richland County Sheriff Department spokesman Curtis Wilson.
Police said Simpson was at a Lake Shore Village apartment in Lower Richland with her live-in boyfriend and an acquaintance when an argument broke out. The group allegedly had been drinking alcohol, Wilson said.
Investigators do not know how the fire started, and no damage estimate was available late this afternoon.John O’Connor
