A group of former UNP members of the Udu Dumbara Pradeshiya Sabha has pledged support to the President at the forthcoming Local Government polls to strengthen the hands of the leadership which saved the country.
These members met the Udu Dumbara Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chief Organiser and Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and secured SLFP membership. They said they were not contesting under the UNP as the Party had no clear political future. They pledged continued support to the President strengthening the programmes mooted for the development of the villages. A group including the former Chairman of the Udu Dumbara Pradeshiya Sabha was present.
