The construction of reservoirs in the city has entered its final phase.
Normal life was disrupted in the city due to water logging caused by sudden rains. Ten reservoirs are being constructed around Colombo to overcome the situation under the patronage of Land Reclamation and Development Corporation. The first is being completed at the cost of 400 million rupees. Rampalawatta reservoir in Pelawatta, Thalawatugoda reservoir, Heenela reservoir near Kirimandala Mawatha, Diyawanna reservoir near the Water’s Edge and Peliyagoda reservoir have entered their final phases. The completion of the construction work during the next few months would create favourable conditions for the people who live in the city as well as for business activities.
