Election Propaganda Material To Be Removed By March 1

The Police have said that election related posters, banners and cutouts put up for the forthcoming local government elections have to be removed by Tuesday (1).

Head of the Police Election Secretariat, Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne has told the media today that police stations island wide have been asked to ensure that all election related posters, banners and cutouts are removed by March 1, as they were a violation of election laws.
DIG Navaratne has said that if the candidates do not adhere to the election laws and remove them by the 1st, the police would take action against them.

However, a large number of election related propaganda material have been put up on display in many parts of the country.
