A boater on Lake Murray was severely injured after he fell out of his motorboat Saturday at dusk and then was run over by that boat, according to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
The boater was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is improving, said DNR Lt. Robert McCullough.
We are still investigating, McCullough said.
McCullough said the injured man had just dropped his wife off on an island on the Lexington County side of the lake and was headed back to the other side of the lake when the incident happened.
After being run over by his own 14-ft. aluminum craft with a 25 horsepower motor, the injured man was picked up by several people fishing nearby who saw the incident, McCullough said. They called 911 and took him to land for transport to the hospital.
