Dan Hargett knows an opportunity when he sees one.
That's why the 63-year-old Spartanburg businessman came out of retirement in 2004 to found an investment company to buy the specialty wire-braiding business of Steeger USA, headquartered in Inman.
Over the past few years, Steeger's business has grown steadily and the company has diversified its product lines at its facility off Highway 292 to cover a variety of commercial and consumer applications.
But it's his latest venture that has Hargett, principal of Hargett and Associates LLC, seeing green in more ways than one.
At the end of 2007, Hargett acquired the manufacturing rights to a post-consumer carpet product designed for soil erosion control, storm water management and a plethora of other uses.
