The Appeals Court has fixed dates to consider petitions filed against the rejection of nominations submitted for the Local Government polls.
A report giving the reasons for the rejection of nomination papers was presented by the Elections Commissioner to Court when the petitions were taking up for consideration today. Deputy Solicitor General Shavendra Fernando making submissions said the report giving reasons for the rejection of nominations had been classified under 11 categories. He said the Court can peruse it and give a suitable verdict. Subsequently the Court of Appeal ordered that all the concerning petitions will be taken up on the 8th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 25th of next month. The Court is expected to deliver its verdict after these hearings.
