Two Kfir Aircraft rehearsing a fly pass for the Air Force Anniversary events have collided near Warana in the Gampaha District. Air force Spokesman Group Captain Andy Wijesuriya said that one pilot has saved his life.
He said that the two Kafir fighter jets which had had been engaged in rehearsals had crashed. The aircraft had met with the accident over Yakkala around 9.30am.
Meanwhile President Mahinda Rajapaksa made a sudden visit to Kirindiwela area to witness the damage caused by the crash of a Kafir Jet. The President visited the area as soon as he heard of the incident. He met with Air Force Officers and local residents and discussed about the incident. He issued instructions to the officers to take further action.
