National Weather Service meteorologists are preparing to survey damage in Newberry County to determine what kind of storm toppled trees and ripped the roof off a storage shed.
Dan Miller of the weather service office said there was an unconfirmed report from an amateur radio operation Monday evening that a tornado touched down about 3 miles southwest of Prosperity.
Miller said initial reports from the Newberry County Sheriff's Office indicated there were no injuries and no reports of damages to homes.
The sheriff's office couldn't be reached late Monday for additional comment.
Miller said meteorologists will study the damage to determine if the storm that passed was a tornado or straight-line winds.
