Shaw Air Force Base jets to practice night flights

People near Shaw Air Force Base will have to deal with jet noise during the week as pilots train for combat.
Air Force officials say the F-16 Fighting Falcons will operate for a few hours after sunset on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening in central South Carolina. The pilots must practice flying after dark with special equipment that allows them to see under night conditions.
The jets will conduct combat exercises, resulting in some noise during takeoffs and landings.
The F-16 jets fly missions to protect troops on the ground and are able to attack enemy in the air.
