The Medical Centre at Werahera will be expanded to fulfill the immediate needs of those who are seeking driving licenses.
About 1000 visit the Centre daily seeking medical certificates to obtain driving licenses. However, it has facilities to issue only 100 medical certificates daily. As such Minister Kumara Welgama has decided to expand the facilities so that at least 300 certificates could be issued. He is planning to increase the number of doctors to 10 and also enhance other facilities at the Centre. The Minister took this initiative following a sudden visit to the Motor Vehicles Commissioner’s Department.
