Air Force Spokesman Group Captain Andrew Wijesuriya has said that investigations re now in progress with regard to the Yakkala Kfir crash. A five-member Committee has been appointed to investigate the incident. The body of Flight Lieutenant Monath Perera killed in this unfortunate incident was brought to his home town today.
Flight Lieutenant Monath Perera who discharged a valuable service on behalf of his motherland in the battle to protect the country from the terrorist died in the mishap while rehearsing for the Air Force Anniversary celebrations. His remain were brought to his birth place Galle amidst tears of not only his mother, grandfather and relatives but also the neighbours. He was the only son in the family. The death of such a skilled and talented pilot is an irreparable loss not only to his family but also the Air Force. The funeral is expected to take place at the Samanala Grounds in Galle on Saturday. The remains are placed in a house of a relative at Kithulampitiya, in Galle.
