A programme is being launched to evacuate all Sri Lankans from Libya.
Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau Kingsley Ranawaka said that the programme has been launched to bring back the Sri Lankans urgently due to the volatile situation in Libya. 55 Sri Lankans are reported to have safely arrived in Cyprus and Malta. Several of them have already been brought back to the island. 33 Sri Lankans in Cyprus will be airlifted to the island today. The Chairman further said that measures will be taken to bring back the Sri Lankans in Libya in a special aircraft.
