A committee working to make regulations uniform on the coast in Horry County has endorsed almost two dozen rules applying to everything from tents to dogs on the beach.
The Coastal Alliance comprised of mayors and Horry County Council Chairman Tom Rice approved the rules. They still must be considered by the local municipalities.
The rules say beach tents could not be set up before 8 a.m. and must be removed by 7 p.m. Dogs must be on hand-held leashes no longer than 7 feet and are banned between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. from May 1 through Labor Day.
Other rules concern fireworks, sleeping on the beach and fishing from piers.
