An out-of-control grass fire Thursday afternoon burned a large wooden storage building containing tools, causing $10,000 worth of damage.
The fire took place on a residential lot in the 300 block of Woodcrest Drive in the Sharpes Hill community of Lexington County.
The fire started after illegal controlled burn spun out of control due to windy conditions, said Lexington County Fire Service Battalion Chief John Hendrix.
A warning ticket was issued to the property owner, Hendrix said.
The fire stayed on the mans property otherwise he would have been fined, Hendrix said.
