The United States has expressed appreciation about the measures taken by the Sri Lankan Government to implement the interim recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).
The Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake said the Government has already planned to implement the interim recommendations of the Commission. Addressing a media briefing for foreign journalists, he said that it is commendable that 350 Police Officers who can converse in Tamil have been deployed in the North and East. The United States expressed confidence that the discussions between the Government and the Tamil National Alliance to find a sustainable political solution will be successful. Speaking further on the situation Robert Blake stated that Sri Lanka has achieved commendable progress with regard to the resettlement of the displaced, increase of infrastructure in the north and rehabilitation of LTTE cadres.
