Lexington man dies in Afghanistan

As the state Senate on Wednesday honored a local Marine severely injured during his tour of duty in Afghanistan, word arrived that another local man lost his life March 8 in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan.
The death of 19-year-old Pfc. Kalin Christopher Lee Johnson of Lexington was confirmed in a statement from the Department of Defense on Wednesday night.
Johnson was attached to the U.S. Army 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Vilseck, Germany. His death followed injuries sustained in a non-combat incident, the DOD statement said.
Johnson was a 2009 graduate of Lexington High School.Rachael Myers Lowe
