Hilton Hotels and Resorts has today (10) stated that it would continue with its normal business operations while discussing the change in ownership with the Sri Lankan government.
The Hilton released a statement that read, “Hilton Hotels & Resorts (Hilton) has a management agreement to operate Hilton Colombo on behalf of Hotel Developers (Lanka) PLC, since more than 20 years ago and this management agreement currently remains in place.
“We have been advised that the Sri Lankan Government has been noted as the new owners of the land and building of the Hotel. In due course Hilton representatives will meet with the relevant parties to discuss the change in ownership and in the meantime, Hilton will continue to maintain normal business operations at the Hotel.”
Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa yesterday revealed in parliament that the government had taken over the ownership of Hilton Colombo after its lease agreement lapsed last week.
