A Spartanburg man has been sentenced to life in prison for the sexual assault of a teenage girl.
Solicitor Barry Barnette says 46-year-old Joseph Gabriel Cobb was sentenced Thursday after he was found guilty of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Authorities say Cobb assaulted a 15-year-old girl who was babysitting for his family in July 2007. Prosecutors say the girl reported the assault the next day when Cobb took her back to her home.
Barnette says Cobb is not eligible for parole. The prosecutor says Cobb's criminal record includes previous convictions for voluntary manslaughter and criminal domestic violence.
Cobb has been in jail since his arrest in July 2007. Information on his attorney was not immediately available.
