R&B icon Prince will return to Columbia for the first time in seven years with a March 21 concert at Colonial Life Arena. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Prince is in the midst of his Welcome 2 America tour that features various performers, including Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson, Sinbad, Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E. and Graham Central Station.
The show is the first of a six-show swing through the Carolinas. Three North Carolina shows are scheduled for March 23 in Raleigh, March 24 in Charlotte and March 26 in Greensboro.
The series wraps up with shows in Greenville on March 28 and North Charleston on March 30.
Prince's band, The New Power Generation, includes two South Carolinians: drummer John Blackwell, of Columbia, and vocalist/tambourine player Shelby Johnson.
