President says country or officers will not be betrayed

Mar 12, 2011 6:11:24 AM - itnnews.lk

The President has said that he is not prepared to betray the country or the officers on the requirements of certain conspirators.

He said that he will fearlessly face the war crime allegation. The President expressed these views at the ‘Janapathi Janahamuva’ held through the electronic media last night. He said that this problem has surfaced following the statement made on the white flag incident and it is a total lie. A report has been requested on the final 10 days of the conflict due to that. He said that a Commission has been appointed and anyone can give evidence at the Commission in this connection.

He said that this is a requirement of the pro-LTTE groups. They need to produce him before a war tribunal. However he said that it is not a simple task. The President noted that this is an organized attempt. He said that the government has nothing to hide as it is transparent. However he said that he is not prepared to allow foreigners to question the local officials in this connection. He has to protect the sovereignty of the country. The President stressed that he is always ready to proceed while protecting the sovereignty of the country.
