The President has provided solutions for a number of peoples problems at the Janapthi Janahamuwa.
The Janapathi Janahamuwa was held last night providing the opportunity for people in several regions to question the President in a live programme. It was organized by six major TV channels in the country including ITN. The President, answered the questions posed by people in Vvuniya, Polonnaruwa, Mahawa, Passara, Udunuwara, Morawata and Katana through satellite connection from the Temple Trees. The people had an opportunity to inquire about a number of problems from the Head of State directly and to make him aware of certain situations. When a farmer from the Polonnaruwa District commented on the importance of purchasing paddy from the farmers by the Government the President said that 200 million rupees has already been granted to the Government Agent to purchase paddy in the district. He said that the Paddy Marketing Board has also been instructed to take measures in this connection. He said if the instructions have not been carried out so far they will be directed to do so with effect from tomorrow. Answering another question the President said that there is joint agreement signed between trade unions and the employers and there after it should be abided by both parties. He said that now a higher income is obtained from tea and the working class should also receive a certain concession.
Ministers, Parliamentarians, Senior Government Officials and Artistes were amongst those who were present.
