The President has said that he who was born in a village and spent time outdoors in a natural environment can easily understand the difficulties of the villagers. He said that he has a genuine feeling that villages need to be developed.
The President expressed these views at a meeting held for the UPFA activists in the Ampara District, at the Mahaweli grounds in Dehiattakandiya. The President pointed out that the facilities that were not available to them are enjoyed by today’s childen in villages. His aim is to make the rural children successful. The President stressed that those children will open the doors not only locally but internationally as well. He said that the country is in need of an opposition that can make a strong impression in parliament instead of betraying the motherland from abroad. The President stressed that the time has come for the opposition to understand their responsibilities. The President emphasized that all should come together to steer the country towards a self sufficient economy. Ministers Maitreepala Sirisena and P. Dayaratne and Parliamentarian Sarath Weerasekara were amongst those who participated in the meeting.
