The registration of vans transporting school children within the Western Province before the end of this month is mandatory.
National Child Protection Authority Chairperson Anoma Dissanayake said that measures are in place to institute action against owners of school vans which are not registered before the 31st of this month.
An additional 500 rupees will be levied from vans which seek registration after this deadline. It has been found that only 3000 school vans in the Western Province had so far been registered. She said that there are more school vans which are to be registered.
