A special programme is planned to provide an opportunity for tourists to travel to Nuwara Eliya by air.
The purpose of this programme is to attract more tourists to this beautiful occasion during the Spring. The possibility of landing sea planes on the Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya was explored today. It was handled by the Civil Aviation Services Authority. A plane which will embark on its journey from the Kelani River in Peliyagoda can accommodate 17 passengers at a time. The travel duration is only 30 minutes. It is desired to operate this air passenger service from next month. The Civil Aviation Service Authority also hopes to land sea planes on the Castlereigh Reservoir.
