Australia has expressed willingness to extend support for the progress of the economic, social and cultural sectors in Sri Lanka.
The visiting Governor of Victoria in Australia Prof. David De Krester has already had discussions in this respect with Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The State Government of Victoria extended enormous support to Sri Lanka to improve the living standards of the people during the tsunami disaster. Five projects related to education, development of living standards, health and houses were implemented. During the visit of the Governor of Victoria, arrangements have been finalized to declare open the Accident Unit of the Karapitiya Hospital built with their assistance.
