A family has been devastated by what Lexington County authorities believe was a murder-suicide.
Around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department received a phone call from a person saying his friend was headed to his ex-fiancee's house with the intent to do harm, Maj. John Allard said.
When deputies arrived at the woman's home in the 100 block of Farm Chase Drive in Red Bank, they discovered she had been shot and killed, along with her daughter. Her son also was shot, and died on his way to the emergency room. The man investigators believe responsible for the killings also shot and killed himself, Allard said.
The Lexington County Coroner's Office was still attempting to notify family members this morning and has not released names of the individuals.
Investigators were still trying to piece together the events of the evening, but there is no suspicion the incident was not a murder-suicide, Allard said.
