The British Council links local schools with schools in the United Kingdom.
It has been mooted under the Global School Partnerships Programme. The programme launch was staged at the British Council Auditorium. It is a programme that essentially links local schools with the schools in the United Kingdom to provide advice and guidance, professional development opportunities and grants to visit their partner schools. The Programme enables students and teachers from the UK and Sri Lanka to share information about the weather, food, traditions and religious festivals.
It also provides students from rural areas the rare opportunity to communicate with people outside Sri Lanka. Teachers benefit by sharing teaching methodologies between the schools while developing mutual learning resources.
