He and his family was leading a very difficult life without a land or a house. They had put up on a land belonging to the Kaduwela Pradeshiya Sabha at Vihara Mawatha in Malambe. Lakhanda Radio came forward to help the beloved wife and three children who had been left by Sunil Liyanarachchi. It was exactly two months ago on 17th January this year that the foundation was laid for the building of a new house for this helpless family. The staff of Lakhanda headed by its Deputy General Manager Ashoka Karunanayake succeeded in completing the work on the house within two months with the contribution of many individuals. All those who contributed towards this effort including Chairman of Independent Television Network Rosmand Senaratne were present to handover the keys of the new house to the family of Sunil Liyanarachchi this morning.

Nuwan Udara Karunaratne gave a detailed description of how they were able to realize this goal.

Chairman Rosmand Senaratne clarified the value of the task. The Chairman pointed out that the Independent Television Network was continuously winning awards and receiving accolades. But he emphasized that he consider this social event as a valuable award as the entire staff had made a vital contribution to realizing this task.
