The UNP has decided to summon a special meeting of its Working Committee on Monday (21) to discuss the party’s performance at the local government elections.
UNP sources said that the Working Committee meeting is scheduled to be held at the party headquarters, Sirikotha, on the 21st evening.
The party is expected to discuss and analyze the UNP’s performance at the local government elections.
However, UNP sources said that the party leadership might not include the discussion on making a change in the party leadership in the meeting’s agenda.
They say that a discussion on a leadership change in the party would be inevitable at the meeting since most members blame the current leadership and its failure to allow a change to take place in the party leadership for the UNP’s defeat at the elections.
Nevertheless, the party’s reforms have to be implemented before April 12 according to the new party constitution.
