The model of the Games City of 2018 Commonwealth Games in Hambantota has been unveiled.
Sri Lanka is expected to forward the application to host the Commonwealth games in 2018 on the 16th of May. The country is planning to hold the Commonwealth games in a Games City complete with all modern amenities. The model of the city was unveiled in the Central Bank premises. It was unveiled before the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Games Federation Mike Hooper who has arrived in the island. Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Parliamentarians Namal Rajapaksa and Thilanga Sumathipala were also present. The CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation is paying a visit to the Games City site today.
