Elections for 101 local government bodies that did not go to the polls on March 17 are to be held in May and June this year.
A senior official of the Elections Secretariat has been quoted by the media as saying the proposal is to hold polls in late May for the 67 local government bodies where elections were put off due to appeals against nomination rejections and the non-clearance of land mines.
The court cases are expected to conclude by May.
Elections for 34 municipal councils and urban councils that were postponed due to the World Cup Cricket matches is to be held in June.
Nevertheless, the Department according to the official was looking into the possibility of holding polls for the all 101 local government bodies on th same day.
