More rehabilitated former LTTE cadres will be absorbed into the society during the next two weeks.
Only 4599 former LTTE cadres are currently remaining in the camps. So far 55% of the total number, amounting to 5901 has been rehabilitated. Another group will be either handed over to their parents or directed towards employment before the end of this year. Those who have already handed back are either engaged in education or employed.
A number of programmes were also launched for their mental well being. Commissioner General of rehabilitation Sudantha Ranasinghe said that their activities will be monitored after their return to the society.
