Religious ceremonies held for Tsunami victims

Religious ceremonies are being held to invoke blessings for the Japanese people who lost their lives due to the Tsunami and the earthquake.

Thousands of Japanese people lost their lives due to the earthquake and the Tsunami that occurred in Japan. Religious ceremonies have been organized in temples throughout the country on the advice of President Rajapaksa. A special religious ceremony was held at the Gangarama temple in Colombo with the participation of the Maha Sangha led by Ven. Galabada Gnanissara Thera.  Former Navy Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda who is to assume duties as the ambassador in Japan, Japanese nationals, businessmen and Sri Lankans who arrived in Sri Lanka from Japan participated in the religious function.

Meanwhile a function was held at the Parama Dhamma Chetiya Pirivena in Ratmalana under the guidance of Ven. Madapatha Dhammasara Thera. Buddhist monks of the Tri-Nikaya participated.

A special  religious function was held at the Kiriellawatta Purana Raja Maha Vihara in Nivithigala to invoke blessins on the Japanese people. It was organized by the Ratnapura Community Development Foundation on the guidance of  Ven. Udawalawa Sumana Thera.
