The Central Committee of the SLFP is to meet on Wednesday (23) under the patronage of party leader, President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
SLFP sources said that the chairmen for the local government bodies won by the ruling UPFA would be decided at this SLFP Central Committee meeting.
The SLFP is the main coalition party of the UPFA.
However, SLFP sources added that when deciding on the persons to fill the posts in the local government bodies, priority would be given to the skills, experience and efficiency of the individual. The UPFA won 205 local government bodies at out of 234 bodies at last week’s elections.
Preferential votes polled by the candidates would not be given priority, sources said.
Meanwhile, appointment to the local government bodies are required to be completed by April 1.
