The Police have tendered an apology to the JVP members who were arrested last year while pasting posters in the Kurunegala District.
The police officers from the Dumbalasuriya Police have today apologized at the Supreme Court to the JVPers who were arrested in Kuliyapitiya last year while pasting posters supportive of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
The JVP members had been arrested last September, but were later released by a Magistrates Court.
However the JVP later filed a Fundamental Rights case in the Supreme Court and sought an apology from the police over the arrest of the JVP members.
The Dumbalasuriya Police had to therefore apologize to the JVP members in court today.
