A Chapin woman is in jail, accused in a murder-for-hire plot that went awry when she "hired" an undercover law enforcement officer.
Linda S. Turner, 59, of Frick Court, has been booked into the R. Eugene Johnson Detention Center on charges of attempted murder and solicitation to commit a felony, the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division said.
According to SLED, Turner on March 18 offered an unreleased amount of money to the undercover agent at a McDonald's restaurant in Clinton off I-26 and SC 56.
She told the agent that the money was payment should the person murder a "former relative" out of state.
