Students and supporters of ousted University of South Carolina board member and top donor Darla Moore are planning a rally at the State House.
An Internet site set up to organize the Wednesday rally says more than 400 people plan to attend a protest of South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's sudden removal of Moore from the board.
Moore has been the school's largest donor and has $70 million in pledges to her alma mater in irrevocable trusts. She has been on USC's board since 1999 and the university's business school bears her name.
Haley replaced her quietly two weeks ago with campaign donor and USC alum Tommy Cofield. Haley's spokesman said the board needed a fresh set of eyes.
Moore also gave $10 million to Clemson University, Haley's alma mater.
