The Japanese Government extended assistance for two more development projects in Sri Lanka.
The assistance has been provided for the Greater Colombo Urban Development Project and the Vavuniya-Kilinochcbi Power Transmission Project. The funds amount to 44 Billion Rupees. It is planned to direct the funds given under the Greater Colombo Urban Development Project to minimise traffic congestion within the City. It is also planned to put up a 132 kilowatt transmission line from Vavuniya to Kilinochchi. The related agreements were inked by Japan’s Ambassador to Sri Laka Kunio Takahashi and Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera.
